It was an emotional night at TD Garden Wednesday.
Things didn’t finish as planned or hoped, but the Bruins still did all they could do to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and help people heal and move on.

Although the Bruins’ search for production from their third line led coach Claude Julien to increase Daniel Paille’s ice time in a handful of Boston’s first 29 games, the veteran winger is still averaging just 21 more seconds of ice time than last season.
That’s unfortunate considering that in just 11:51 of ice time per night, Paille has managed to pot six goals, which is just three shy of his total for an entire 82-game schedule (he skated in 69 games) from 2011-12.

A Steve Staios slap shot to the face in early November didn’t make Daniel Paille rethink his career choice.
Instead he underwent surgery, sported one of the ugliest shiner/broken nose combinations in recent memory around the Bruins’ dressing room and then, 10 days later, got right back into the Bruins’ lineup in his role as Boston’s fourth-line left winger.

Bottom-six forwards have played almost as big a role as all-world goaltending in the runs of the Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final.
The Bruins have boasted one of the better fourth lines over the last couple seasons, and today general manager Peter Chiarelli moved to keep his energy line intact and also bolster the depth of his bottom six with a pair of re-signings.

Paille's been a healthy scratch/By S. Bradley
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins head coach Claude Julien doesn’t consider Monday’s travel day back from California an off day, so today he allowed his players to have an optional skate.
A handful of players took the Ristuccia Arena ice, led by the healthy scratches Daniel Paille, Joe Corvo and Mike Mottau, and back-up goaltender Marty Turco.

BOSTON — The Bruins will face the New York Rangers Sunday at Madison Square Garden as a shorthanded club.
Not only did the Bruins lose a game today to the New York Islanders, they also lost a couple players who they can now add to their lengthening list of injured performers.

Any accolades that flow the way of the Bruins’ fourth line players are always rare and well-deserved.
So it’s with great pride that I reveal that readers of TheBruinsBlog.net this weekend voted Daniel Paille as the Bruin of the Week.

BOSTON — Regardless of whether Daniel Paille is cleared to play tonight, Bruins head coach Claude Julien is leaning toward using Zach Hamill to fill in for Gregory Campbell as the team’s fourth center tonight against Los Angeles as the TD Garden.
So the team’s energy line will have a different look either way.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — It’s a trade that no general manager would make, but for now the Bruins have to deal with it.
Daniel Paille returned to practice today, while, as expected Zdeno Chara did not take the ice during practice at Ristuccia Arena. Gregory Campbell also did not skate, so expect an update on him later.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins head coach Claude Julien confirmed today after practice at Ristuccia Arena that forward Daniel Paille was diagnosed with a mild concussion.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — To no one’s surprise, Bruins forward Daniel Paille did not skate with the team today during practice at Ristuccia Arena.
Paille suffered a head injury in the loss to Florida Thursday night when he was hit by Krys Barch.
I’m sure the Bruins will provide some sort of an update on Paille’s condition after practice. The rest of their 12 forwards and seven defensemen were on the ice, along with the two goaltenders.

BOSTON — The Bruins returned to practice today at TD Garden after taking a day off Tuesday.
Everyone was on the ice except Daniel Paille, who had morning surgery to fix his fractured nose according to head coach Claude Julien.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli offered the following update on forward Daniel Paille on the team’s media Web site this afternoon:
There have been numerous great stories involving Bruins personnel and the Stanley Cup so far this summer. And there promises to be even more as the offseason unfolds.
A season dominated by 35 healthy scratches might be enough for some players to quit, or at least ask for a trade somewhere there might be more playing time.
