BOSTON — During his first media interview since it was revealed he has been battling post-concussion syndrome, Bruins center Marc Savard mentioned he might’ve come back too early from the injury when he join Boston for its playoff series with Philadelphia.
Savard mentioned he was extremely fatigued, especially as the series wore on and his playing time increased.

BOSTON — The moment we’ve all be waiting for since Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced at the outset of training camp that Marc Savard was unavailable to the club finally arrived this morning.
Savard addressed the media about his post-concussion symptoms, which he said include dizziness, headaches and depression. He called himself “ways away” from returning and noted that he might returned to action too soon last spring.

BOSTON — Bruins center Marc Savard today addressed the media for the first time since general manager Peter Chiarelli revealed the star was suffering from post-concussion syndrome more than a week ago.
During his slightly more than 10-minute chat in the Bruins’ TD Garden dressing room, Savard revealed that even as far back as the Bruins’ playoff series with Philadelphia he was feeling some of the effects from the concussion he suffered March 7.

BOSTON – Now we know why Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli doesn’t run his club based on the whims and urges of the media or fan base.
Sure, sooner or later he might have to take a major risk and deal from strength to fortify his club for a championship run, but right now Chiarelli looks like the smartest hockey man in the Hub by keeping his organization’s stable of centers as over the summer.

And for the Bruins and their fans, it couldn’t have had a happier ending, with general manager Peter Chiarelli acknowledging that he won’t be trading Marc Savard and expects the star center to arrive at camp next week in an effort to return to his pre-concussion form.

While the world awaits the announcement of the NHL’s decision about Ilya Kovalchuk’s contract Friday night, there is still the matter of the investigation into the deals of four other prominent players, including Bruins center Marc Savard, to be dealt with.
It came to light shortly after the NHL rejected the first Kovalchuk deal that the league was also looking into the long-term deals of Savard, Marian Hossa, Roberto Luongo and Chris Pronger for any signs of circumvention of the salary cap.

Great job by Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun to track down Bruins center Marc Savard and get him on the record about his feelings in regards to this summer’s trade rumors.
“They hurt me a little bit just because I went to Boston and I helped to build that team back up,” Savard told Garrioch Friday for an article posted Saturday night on The Sun’s Web site. “Since I’ve been there, I’ve really tried to work hard with the young guys and being a core player. I was really focused on staying there for the rest of my career. To hear all this stuff this summer bothered me inside more than anything else.”

Marc Savard showed how much he wanted to stay with the Bruins last December when he re-signed with the club, and the Bruins have seemingly determined they can keep Savard around after a couple months of allegedly shopping him around to clear cap space.
Now it seems there’s a chance the Savard-Bruins marriage could be broken up by a third party, and that might not be the worst thing for the club.

Mark Recchi has obviously decided to return to the Bruins without testing the free-agent market July 1 because he thinks the club is going in the right direction and will be a Stanley Cup contender in 2010-11.
Whether Marc Savard will be a part of that team remains to be seen, as it’s a well-know fact now that Boston has been shopping the star center since last week. Most can’t wrap their head around how the Bruins would be a better club without their perennial leading scorer. But there are also salary-cap implications that might be hindering other plans general manager Peter Chiarelli has in mind.
