David Krejci is supposed to be the Bruins’ No. 1 center.
He’s talked about serving in that role from around the time it looked like Marc Savard might never be the same right through present day. And for long stretches of the last several years, Krejci has been that player.
Center David Krejci famously led the entire NHL in playoff scoring during the 2011 run to the Stanley Cup championship.
But the way things started that postseason, Krejci was nearly a goat instead of a hero in those playoffs.
If it seems like the number of people losing faith in Milan Lucic’s ability to help the Bruins is increasing by the second, you can add one more name to that group: Milan Lucic.
We all know how ugly the numbers are for Bruins forward Milan Lucic through 40 games of this season.
The would-be power forward has produced just five goals this season, which would put him on pace for just about 11 in a regular 82- game schedule.

Even during the longest goal drought since his second season in the National Hockey League, Milan Lucic found it easier to get away from the pressures of the game off the ice than in years past because of a big change that happened at home.
In January, his first child, Valentina, was born.

The Bruins will host the Washington Capitals at TD Garden Saturday in the Caps’ first visit to Boston since they eliminated the Bruins in last spring’s first round of the playoffs.
Of course, the Bruins will continue to be without Chris Kelly because of a broken tibia.

At 11:59 P.M. Saturday it’s widely expected that the NHL will enter into a lockout when the collective bargaining agreement expires.
But that didn’t stop the Bruins from handing out one more giant contract extension to one of their key players who they’ve decided will be part of their foundation going forward.

We all know the expectations that Milan Lucic will be the next Cam Neely are unfair.
The problem is, Lucic seems to be struggling just to become the Milan Lucic he and the Bruins expect him to be, and the player Bruins cast him and pay him to be.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Bruins’ power play famously compiled a 5-for-61 success rate through the first three rounds of playoffs last season, starting with a 0-for-21 run against Montreal in the first round.
In an effort to not get off to such a horrible start when the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs commence, the Bruins spent a large chunk of their practice working on their power play — both 5-on-4 and 4-on-3 situations.

BOSTON — Fifteen different players recorded points, Benoit Pouliot scored two goals and Brian Rolston proved the Fountain of Youth just might be hidden behind the Bruins’ dressing room with a four-point night in an 8-0 romp of Toronto tonight.
Boston swept the six-game season series from the Maple Leafs and the Bruins now lead the Northeast Division by three points over Ottawa.

BOSTON — Bruins head coach Claude Julien said this morning at TD Garden that tonight’s lineup against Montreal would be the most uncertain this year.
Well, things got a little more certain this afternoon without Julien doing anything.

Lucic will be a marked man/By S. Bradley
Sometimes it’s best to expect the unexpected.
Like maybe there won’t be any fighting in the Bruins-Buffalo tilt tonight, and the two teams will just stage a spirited affair between a couple skilled clubs with a lot at stake in terms of the standings.

NHL discipline czar Brendan Shanahan today announced he would not be giving Milan Lucic any supplemental discipline for his hit on Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller in Saturday night’s Bruins win.
Shanahan had Lucic on the phone for an afternoon hearing.
