Ex-Bruins winger Satan ready to dance elsewhere

Fan favorite Miro Satan, a playoff hero for the Bruins last spring, has signed a one-year contract with HC Slovan Bratislava with an out clause that would allow him to join an NHL club this season, FoxSports reported today.

General manager Peter Chiarelli’s after-Christmas shopping paid off well this season.

When Chiarelli completed a free-agent contract with Miroslav Satan for the rest of the season Jan. 3, the GM saw it as a low-risk, high-reward sort of deal to get a 14-year veteran for less than a million dollars. As far as bang for the bucks, Satan fit the bill.

When Satan strikes

BOSTON — You can rob Miro Satan once, but not twice. That’s the lesson Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller learned tonight in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Sabres and Bruins.

Satan, who failed to lift a would-be game-winner late in the first overtime, dragged the puck to his backhand again and flipped the game-winner into the net with Miller way out at 7:41 of the second session to earn the Bruins a 3-2 win in the game and a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
