That the Bruins beat Tampa Bay, 2-0, Thursday night was important for the club’s attempt to win the Northeast Division and finish second in the Eastern Conference.
The Bruins continue to hold their own fate in their hands with two games remaining in the season. If the Bruins get three of four points, they win the division regardless of what Montreal does in its last game against Toronto Saturday.

Mired in a 1-4-1 slump over their last six, there’s no doubt the Bruins would like nothing more than to play a quality game Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning at TD Garden.

Goals have been in short supply for the Bruins this season, so Tuukka Rask made sure the club’s four-game winless streak came to an end Sunday by not allowing any goals against.
Rask posted his fourth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win against the Florida Panthers.

The Bruins lost a game to Pittsburgh 3-2 Saturday, and lost Nathan Horton to an avoidable injury in the first period at TD Garden.
The forward was injured during a fight with Penguins winger Jarome Iginla and did not return to the game.

After the Bruins lost to Pittsburgh Saturday at TD Garden, coach Claude Julien commended his team’s effort and lamented the club’s inability to once again score enough goals to make the performance result in two points.
Julien also took exception to the play of a couple Penguins who’ve been getting under the Bruins’ skin for years now.
