Center Chris Kelly took the next step toward a return to the Bruins’ lineup when he practiced with the team Friday at Ristuccia Arena.
Kelly’s previous step was taking the morning skate with the club Thursday. Kelly will travel with the team to Montreal, but coach Claude Julien would only say Kelly is day-to-day and wouldn’t commit to a game-time decision. Kelly has been out since March 11 with a broken tibia.

Jaromir Jagr said he barely slept the last two nights after he was traded to the Bruins from Dallas Tuesday and then tried to get comfortable in his new city Wednesday.
After he scored the lone goal in the Bruins’ 1-0 win against New Jersey at TD Garden Thursday, Jagr could rest assured that he’s already made the type of impact the Bruins wanted from him.

Patrice Bergeron, who left Tuesday night’s win against Ottawa in the second period, is out with a moderate concussion. Chris Kelly, who’s trying to return from a broken tibia, will be back “soon.”
Chiarelli getting ‘the band back together’ with Chara, Redden on Bruins

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said Wednesday that when the New York Rangers bought out Wade Redden’s contract in January, there were exploratory talks about the defenseman coming to Boston.
Instead Redden, who played for Ottawa during Chiarelli’s tenure as an assistant GM there, signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the St. Louis Blues.

It was another roller-coaster afternoon and evening for the 2013 Bruins Tuesday, which started with the trade for Jaromir Jagr.
By the end of the night the Bruins rode a 45-save effort by Anton Khudobin to a 3-2 win against Ottawa at TD Garden, and finished the game without the services of Patrice Bergeron.

It took the Bruins more than 40 minutes to wake up and support the yeoman efforts of goaltender Anton Khudobin Sunday night.
When David Krejci and his linemates finally came to life, the center recorded a goal and an assist and the Bruins had a 2-0 win that pulled them back within one point of Montreal for first place in the Northeast Division.
