The Bruins’ archest enemies have often compared Boston’s style of play to that seen in the movie “Slap Shot.”
Now the Bruins might more resemble the fictional Chiefs after making a minor signing today.

Luckily, TSN and the rest of the national media wasn’t relying on the Bruins to create the frenzy they sold their programming on today.
With the exception of filing the three contracts they already announced they had signed, the Bruins did nothing, and general manager Peter Chiarelli didn’t anticipate that changing, today on the first day of free agency in the NHL.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — It was time for the Bruins’ prospects to move beyond the team building and practicing and actually strut their stuff in a game atmosphere with score kept at Ristuccia Arena today.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The intensity picked up during Day 3 of the Bruins development camp at Ristuccia Arena today. Here’s a look at some of the action courtesy of Sharon Bradley Photography.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli today made official a couple rumors that have dominated the world of Bruins news the last several days.
Tuukka Rask has signed a one-year deal for $3.5 million to stay with Boston, while Alexander Khokhlachev is going to play in the KHL next season.

If he didn’t have Tim Thomas in front of him these last couple years, maybe Tuukka Rask would be the guy today celebrating a Stanley Cup championship and a new 10-year contract extension instead of Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — As a college free agent who signed with the Bruins last spring, Torey Krug was jettisoned from NHL life as soon as the 2011-12 regular season concluded.
NHL rules made him ineligible to be available to the Bruins in the postseason, and even prevented him from skating with the team’s reserves.

Fresh off winning the OHL and CHL Defenseman of the Year awards, Bruins top prospect Dougie Hamilton now gets a chance to show the Bay State how much he’s improved since he was drafted eighth overall in 2011 and attending last year’s development and training camps.

Maybe it was because the Bruins were defending Stanley Cup champions this season and everyone was trying to go at them harder than ever.
Whatever the reason, Shawn Thornton had to increase his fight card to 20 bouts – tied for most in the league – after he battled in 14 the season before.

All the talk about Tim Thomas the last several weeks has been about the goaltender’s future.
Will he play again? Will he play for the Bruins again? Will the Bruins find a way to get out from under his $5 million cap hit?

Turco
From Austria to Boston, Marty Turco fell down the proverbial rabbit hole last spring in an effort to swoop in and help the Bruins in the aftermath of Tuukka Rask’s injury.

As soon as he arrived in a deadline-day trade from Minnesota, Greg Zanon looked like a Bruins-type player.

Adam Oates will be inducted in the HHOF.
That he didn’t win a championship in Boston and left the Bruins’ organization amidst some major acrimony might’ve blurred Adam Oates’ career in black and gold to observers over the years.

Seidenberg/By S. Bradley
Few Bruins players conquered the Stanley Cup hangover better than Dennis Seidenberg.
And the veteran defenseman had more to overcome than nearly all of his other teammates considering his 27:37 of ice time per game in the run to the 2011 Cup championship was second only to Zdeno Chara, and by just two seconds.

A little earlier than in past summers the Bruins’ top prospects and some invitees will be in Wilmington, Mass. starting Thursday for the team’s annual development camp at Ristuccia Arena.
The camp will run through Monday July 2.
