The Bruins needed to clear a spot on their 23-man roster to make room for the return of winger Brad Marchand from injured reserve. So despite his share of the team lead in goals with five, Seth Griffith was assigned to Providence of the American Hockey League on Monday afternoon.

WILMINGTON — Bruins first-round pick David Pastrnak was injured in a collision early in the first practice session Saturday at Ristuccia Arena.
The forward left the ice and did not return.

WILMINGTON — First up on the “replace Reilly Smith” game show Friday at Ristuccia Arena was prospect Seth Griffith.
During the Bruins’ first on-ice practice of training camp, Griffth skated on a line with center Patrice Bergeron and left winger Brad Marchand.
