TheBruinsBlog.net looks back at the top 10 Bruins moments of calendar year 2010.
Tim Thomas admitted earlier this season he didn’t know much about Hall-of-Famer Cecil “Tiny” Thompson. At least now Thomas knows one thing about the former Bruins goaltender: he once held the club record for best start by a netminder.

It might be time to stop describing Tim Thomas as just the Vezina Trophy favorite.
It’s about time to consider him a Hart Trophy candidate as well.

BOSTON — He had already faced 40 shots on goal, including 25 in the third, so Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas had to know that there would be another one coming once Alexander Ovechkin got a hold of David Krejci’s inexplicable blind cross-ice pass in the closing moments of tonight’s game.

Now that the Bruins’ season is past the one-third pole and the team has played every club in the Eastern Conference at least once, I thought it’d be interesting to crunch some numbers.

Boston fans are by all accounts intelligent and tech savvy.
So why in the heck is Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas being beaten by not one, but two, goaltenders whose names aren’t even on the 2010 NHL digital All-Star ballot?
BOSTON — Jonathan Quick might be 12 years Tim Thomas’ junior, but so far in the NHL career of both goaltenders the youngster has gotten the better of the grizzled veteran.

BOSTON – The night started with Tim Thomas stoning New Jersey sniper Patrik Elias and rookie Mattias Tedenby in rapid succession just one minute into the contest.
It finished with Thomas needing to make 14 saves in the third period to preserve his fourth shutout of the season.
One day after the NHL named him last week’s First Star, Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas was today named the Second Star for the month of October. Steven Stamkos of Tampa Bay was named the First Star.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas is off to the hottest post-expansion start of any NHL goaltender ever.
Today the league lavished him with some recognition.
Cecil “Tiny” Thompson never got the chance to win back his job with the Bruins the way Tim Thomas has this fall.

Tim Thomas is going streaking.
No, the Bruins goaltender isn’t going to strip down to his skivvies and do a Will Ferrell impression from “Old School.” But he is going to put a couple of runs of success on the line tonight in Ottawa.
