Winning the Stanley Cup brings more demands on a player’s time during the offseason from interested media and new sponsors than a usual summer.
As far as historic NHL awards, Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is just going to have to be satisfied with the Stanley Cup.
And I’m sure the Boston captain is quite content.
BOSTON — Now we really know the power of a Stanley Cup championship.
We knew that the decision by the NHL that Zdeno Chara’s March 8 hit on Max Pacioretty was a “hockey play” gone wrong didn’t defuse the Montreal forward’s bitterness toward the Bruins defenseman or the league.
VANCOUVER — If Zdeno Chara’s minutes aren’t wearing him down, he has a funny way of showing it.
VANCOUVER – Getting the right line and D-pair matchups on the road is so difficult because of the lack of the second change.
However, the Bruins did a masterful job of making sure Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg were on the ice almost every time Vancouver’s Henrik and Daniel Sedin, and Alex Burrows, were on the ice in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday.
VANCOUVER — The Bruins decided to use the second off day before tomorrow’s Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final to go through an intense, one-hour practice at the University of British Columbia today.
VANCOUVER – At 6-foot-9, Zdeno Chara is supposed to be a haul to move and impossible to see around down low on the Bruins’ power play.
VANCOUVER — Either Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo is trying to convince the Bruins they’re not getting any benefit from having Zdeno Chara parked in front on the power play because that alignment is bothering him, or maybe putting the captain at the top of the crease isn’t the best idea Boston’s coaching staff has had.
BOSTON — In the tradition of the 2001-02 New England Patriots, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara wanted to publicly declare that this season’s team is a singular unit with no player above another.
BOSTON — Maybe there have been too many questions to the Bruins about how they’re going to contain Tampa Bay’s star-studded forward corps and not enough credit given to a group of Boston blueliners led by a Norris Trophy winner.
BOSTON — If Zdeno Chara felt the like he did last week over the course of the 2010-11 season, there’s no way he could’ve produced a season worthy of the Norris Trophy.
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara logged more than 26 minutes of ice time in Monday night’s Game 3 victory over Montreal at the Bell Centre some three days after he was hospitalized for dehydration.
MONTREAL — Late this morning I joked that Bruins captain Zdeno Chara’s decision not to speak to the media after his team’s morning skate at the Bell Centre meant he was going to do his talking with his play — if he played.
MONTREAL — Zdeno Chara is listed as in for tonight’s Game 3 with Montreal on the official game sheet.
The Bruins captain missed Game 2 Saturday.
