Prospect update: Riendeau scores a pair in Reading’s victories

Riendeau

Bruins hook up with Reading Royals

ReadingRoyalsThe Boston Bruins today announced an affiliation relationship with the Reading (Pa.) Royals of the East Coast Hockey League. Under this agreement, the Bruins will be able to assign players from their organization to the Royals during the 2009-10 season.

The Royals hold their primary affiliation agreement with Boston’s rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Last season, a couple Bruins players, including goaltender Kevin Regan, spent time with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. Prior to that, the Bruins had a brief relationship with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The Bruins will now have the ability to relieve some of the logjam at Providence (AHL) that can sometimes ensue and prevent players from getting necessary playing time to further their development.
