Despite goals by Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin, and a 9-6 shots advantage in the third period, the Bruins weren’t able to rally out of a three-goal hole Saturday night in Dallas.
Boston’s 4-2 loss to the Stars snapped their seven-game winning streak.

The last time the Bruins met up with Dallas, the teams staged three fights in the first four seconds of the game last February at the TD Garden.
Many are hoping to see the same type of fireworks tonight when the two teams meet in a New Year’s Eve showdown in Big D. Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan, however, wants one of his more rambunctious players to rein himself in a bit tonight.

After 32 games dating back to last season without a goal, Dennis Seidenberg has now scored in consecutive games.
Tonight’s score by the veteran defenseman was the game-winner in overtime of a Bruins 2-1 victory at Phoenix.

Marchand/By S. Bradley
A season ago, Brad Marchand told everyone in the Bruins organization who would listen that he was going to score 20 goals.
The winger backed up his rookie-year boast by lighting the lamp 21 times in the regular season.
The Bruins have won six in a row, they’re on top of the Eastern Conference and several of their players are red-hot.
That’s why picking a Bruin of the Week is going to be difficult after a two-win, no-loss week.

Peverley/By S. Bradley
BOSTON — The Bruins have decided to give Rich Peverley the night off tonight when they host Florida tonight at the TD Garden.
Peverley was the only Bruins player absent from the morning skate and after the session head coach Claude Julien confirmed the night of rest for Peverely.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Bruins stuck to their plan of resting Rich Peverley today at practice at Ristuccia Arena.
Peverley, who’s trying to recover from an undisclosed injury, also did not practice yesterday.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Defenseman Andrew Ference and forward Rich Peverley were the only two Bruins players to not practice today at Ristuccia Arena.
While head coach Claude Julien said Ference was battling the flu, the bench boss noted that Peverley was taking the first of at least two maintenance days to rest an undisclosed injury.

BOSTON — Maybe Milan Lucic’s absence due to a one-game suspension took a little of the snarl out of the Bruins-Canadiens match-up tonight.
There was a little less physicality and much more speed and skating on display at the TD Garden, but that didn’t stop the Bruins from continuing to sizzle.

BOSTON — Bruins head coach Claude Julien said this morning at TD Garden that tonight’s lineup against Montreal would be the most uncertain this year.
Well, things got a little more certain this afternoon without Julien doing anything.

Paille/By S. Bradley
Any accolades that flow the way of the Bruins’ fourth line players are always rare and well-deserved.
So it’s with great pride that I reveal that readers of TheBruinsBlog.net this weekend voted Daniel Paille as the Bruin of the Week.
The wins just keep on piling up for the Bruins.
With their 3-0-0 week, they have now won 18 of their last 21 and earned at least a point in 19 of those games. Along with the victories comes plenty of candidates for Bruin of the Week. And this week there were plenty of candidates.

Chara/By S. Bradley
Sometime early in the Bruins game in Philadelphia today, the on-ice conversation probably went something like this:
Jody Shelley: “Hey, Zdeno, how are you feeling now that you’re back from a two-game absence?”
Zdeno Chara: “Let me show you.”

The Bruins’ fortunate injury situation marches on, while one of their closest competitors is dealing with replacing one of its biggest stars due to a health issue.
The Philadelphia Flyers, who host the Bruins in the battle of the top two teams in Eastern Conference Saturday, learned Thursday night that star defenseman and captain Chris Pronger will miss the remainder of the season and playoffs due to severe post-concussion syndrome.
