Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron wasn’t the only one getting medical clearance to return after a concussion this week. Toronto defenseman Mike Van Ryn also got the go-ahead from doctors, and he’s scheduled to take the ice with the Maple Leafs tonight, as Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reported.
Van Ryn’s most recent concussion occurred Dec. 18 when he was hit by Bruins winger Milan Lucic. He has missed 16 games since then. He missed 13 games because of an earlier concussion prior to that absence.
If the Leafs, who are nine points out of the eighth spot in the East, are going to make a run, they’re going to need Van Ryn to be a rock on their back line and power play.
