Things are looking up in Montreal for the Canadiens, as winger Chris Higgins — who has been out 19 games with a shoulder injury — is expected to be back in the line-up in time for tomorrow’s game with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette has the complete story.
The Bruins are in Montreal Sunday, so they might be facing a more complete Habs squad when they take the Bell Centre ice.
MK: This is huge for the Canadiens on two fronts. First, Higgins when healthy can be a productive player, especially on the Habs’ inconsistent power play. Second, any package that Montreal would send to Tampa Bay in a Vinny Lecavalier trade would probably start with Higgins, who was always mentioned last season when Montreal was in pursuit of Marian Hossa. The Bruins will have to keep a close eye on this situation because Lecavalier to the Habs would greatly change the Eastern Conference landscape and possibly require a responsive move.
