Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli revealed today that forward Nathan Horton has been cleared for contact.
Horton missed most of the second half of last season with a concussion after a hit from Philadelphia’s Tom Sestito Jan. 22.

To no one’s surprise, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said today during his press conference to announce head coach Claude Julien’s new contract extension that we shouldn’t anticipate any earth-shattering player moves, or any at all for that matter, before training camp in the fall.

A week after they got journeyman Garnet Exelby to sign a two-way deal with them, the Bruins today inked another well-traveled defenseman to a one-year, two-way contract.

When he woke up Friday morning, Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski was the club’s last remaining unsigned restricted free agent.
That changed by the afternoon when the team announced Bartkowski had been signed to a new one-year, two-way deal for the 2012-13 season.

Keeping up their thrill-a-minute summer, the Bruins today announced two more signings to fill out their depth chart.
Forward Lane MacDermid, a restricted free agent, was re-signed, and journeyman defenseman Garnet Exelby was signed away from the Detroit organization.

The Bruins’ archest enemies have often compared Boston’s style of play to that seen in the movie “Slap Shot.”
Now the Bruins might more resemble the fictional Chiefs after making a minor signing today.

Luckily, TSN and the rest of the national media wasn’t relying on the Bruins to create the frenzy they sold their programming on today.
With the exception of filing the three contracts they already announced they had signed, the Bruins did nothing, and general manager Peter Chiarelli didn’t anticipate that changing, today on the first day of free agency in the NHL.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli today made official a couple rumors that have dominated the world of Bruins news the last several days.
Tuukka Rask has signed a one-year deal for $3.5 million to stay with Boston, while Alexander Khokhlachev is going to play in the KHL next season.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — As a college free agent who signed with the Bruins last spring, Torey Krug was jettisoned from NHL life as soon as the 2011-12 regular season concluded.
NHL rules made him ineligible to be available to the Bruins in the postseason, and even prevented him from skating with the team’s reserves.
